Room by Room ~ Target: Gameroom

Decorating your home can be challenging and frustrating. Don't sweat it! I'll give you some helpful hints that can help you pull your home together Room by Room.
These days many new homes feature gamerooms. Whether you choose to let your kids occupy this space or prefer to make it a haven for grown-ups to un-wind, it can be difficult to make the room functional and aesthetically pleasing.
When designing your gameroom for adults, it is always a good idea to have some sort of game table(i.e. pool table, poker table, ping-pong table, etc) be the central focus of your room. If your space is limited, one of these game tables may encompass much of your room. Having a theme can help set the ambiance for your gameroom.
In our sample room, we've used a "Sports" theme and a pool table as the central focus. This family are sports fanatics and have an extensive collection of sports memorabilia and wanted a masculine and exciting feel to the room. They also decided to mount televisions in all four corners of the room in order to watch multiple sporting events simultaneously. They also added surround sound creating the option of listening to music while playing games.
They chose a neutral yet warm paint color. This enabled the framed jerseys & autographed pictures to "Pop" and create a broad spectrum of color for the room.
A bar table with 2 barstools, an old-fashioned barstool lounger, and 2 leather club charis were added to provide seating for the room.
Here are some things to consider when planning a deisgn for your gameroom: 1. Decide whether the room will be used for children or adults. 2. Create a theme to set the mood. 3. For an adult gameroom, decide on a game table. 4. For a children's gameroom consider murals, game stations, bookshelves, & storage cubbies. 5. Allow enough seating for your guests when entertaining. Bar tables are a great solution because they offer seating as well as a place for guests to set drinks or food. 6. Paint color should not be distracting taking attention away from the games. 7. Consider adding a TV or stereo. Imagine your friends & family gathering to watch a sporting event or the latest movie. Pulling your game room together can inspire "Family Game Night" or entice you to host this year's Super Bowl Party.
